Trail Talk: Issue 43: Park to Park
Work continues on extending the Panhandle Pathway to the entrance of France Park in Cass County. This critical expansion will link the trail's southern terminus at Kenneth to the nearby park gates. Once completed, walkers and cyclists can more safely access France Park without using cars or trucks.
Fortunately, the trail already routes under US 24 near Kenneth. This existing underpass ensures safe passage without forcing users onto the busy highway. While much of the initial brush clearing is complete, crews will tackle additional groundwork in the coming weeks.
Finalizing this section brings the ambitious "Park to Park" vision one step closer to reality. The ultimate goal is to seamlessly connect France Park on the south with Tippecanoe River State Park on the north. Currently, the northern end stops at 17th Street in Winamac.
With every mile added, more people discover the trail's value. Usage is at an all-time high, proving what a vital asset the Panhandle Pathway is for public health and recreation. Have you been for a walk on the Panhandle today yet?

Can't wait to ride Park to Park.
We were on the Panhandle Pathway yesterday for the first time. We parked in the overflow parking at the church near the Kenneth trailhead. We road to Winamac and back. When we got back to Kenneth we wanted to see how much further the trail went. We loved the trail and will be back. Our friends drove two hours from MI and we came up from Indy.
One day, hopefully. It will connect to Logansport!
That is excellent news. Our cycling group from Goshen, (Bikin Brothers) have ridden the Panhandle several times. Cannot wait until the trail connects to France Park.

What happened to the trail extension to Tippecanoe River State Park?
Excellent news! My husband & I rode the trail in May of 2026 & immensely enjoyed it.

Waste of money
I've ran from Kenneth to Winamac. Love the Pathway, one day i will make it to Tippecanoe State Park.
